Unlike the rest of the gambling capital, Thrillworld is a funfair, much like the [[Carnival Night Zone]] on the [[Floating Island]]. It was opened by [[Doctor Ivo Robotnik]] and was (at least partly) run by [[Max Gamble]].

==History==

Thrillworld was opened in the summer of 1996, filled with [[rollercoaster]]s, bright lights, balloons and other festivities. A major attraction was the [[Pit Plunge Roller Coaster]], a speedy rollercoaster that vertically plunged underground. Many visitors queued up for the ride, unaware that it was secretly leading to a [[Badnik Processing Plant]] in a cave. [[Shortfuse the Cybernik]] was suspicious of the ride and boarded it, before destroying the technology and taking out the [[Trooper]]s below. To ensure Gamble could no longer profit from it, the [[Cybernik]] ripped a hole in the track.

It is unclear whether or not Thrillworld is still open, as it has not been mentioned by name again. However, rollercoasters and other rides still exist in the [[Zone]].

They are so named because of the red coats the [[goblin]]s wear. The Red Jackets are based at [[Castle Morbidden]] and protect their Queen from danger. [[Prince Catalus]] also wears a red jacket and may be their leader.

==History==

Wishing to engage in some sport, Queen Vulpecula instructed her brother, Catalus, to kidnap some young [[fox]] cubs. He eventually returned with [[Tails]], [[Jimmy and Jilly]], prompting the start of the games. Vulpecula ordered her Red Jackets to assist her with the search, helping her to chase the foxes but not catching them until she caught up. However, the Red Jackets proved ineffective, with Vulpecula catching the cubs on her own. Later, the police accompanied the Queen to the top of the castle but were unable to stop Tails and the twins from escaping.

It is his job to make the decisions that directly affect the club, such as financial investments and the hiring of a new manager. A chairman is usually backed by a managerial board that assist him in the running of a club.

Life was going well for the Shinpadzio chairman; his team was in the [[Mobius Cup]] final and shirt sales were high. Unfortunately, his team had gotten lazy and copious amounts of junk food had turned them into slobs. [[Ronnie Dribble]] attempted to reverse his players' slide by giving them [[Sonic the Hedgehog]]'s powers, but they were unable to control them and lost 22-0. After the match, the furious chairman arrived and revealed his intention to press charges against Dribble for bringing the game into disrepute. After this, the [[dog]] presumably began the search for a new manager that would repair Shinpadzio's broken reputation.

==1998 Mobius Cup==

The 1998 edition of the Mobius Cup final was contested by [[Shinpadzio]] and an unknown team, nicknamed the "Reds". Shinpadzio were considered to be favourites by many, but their form had slipped before the match and the players had grown fat, addicted to junk food.

Controversy marred the final as the Shinpadzio manager, [[Ronnie Dribble]], stole [[Sonic the Hedgehog]]'s powers and gave them to his players. They confidently walked out onto the pitch (as observed by commentator [[Alan (commentator)|Alan]]) and went on to use Sonic's powers against their opponents. However, they were unable to control their gifts, sending them shooting way offside and crashing when attempting a [[Spin Attack]]. In this confusion, Sonic apprehended Dribble and Shinpadzio lost the match 22-0. Dribble was prosecuted shortly afterwards by the [[Shinpadzio chairman]].

The '''Moon Goddess''' is a fiction deity of [[Mobius]]. Under orders from [[Doctor Robotnik]], [[Mesmer]] managed to hypnotise an entire village into believing that the goddess existed. He also convinced them that [[Knuckles the Echidna]] was "the one", foretold that his sacrifice would please the deity and give the village good crops. To entice him out, the villagers, dressed in twisted disguises, captured a young [[sheep]] and Knuckles rescued her. Thanks to the lamb's betrayal, the mob found Knuckles and trapped him in a burning cage. He eventually broke free and ended Mesmer's grip on the people, ending any belief in the Moon Goddess.

==History==

[[Doctor Ivo Robotnik]] wished to control all of Mobius by hypnotising them into following him. As a test, Robotnik hired Mesmer to take over a secluded village, with Seth and Maurice's minds being just two of the unwitting subjects. The [[pig]] and [[rat]] were tricked into believing that [[Knuckles the Echidna]] was "the chosen one" and that he must be sacrificed for the Moon Goddess.

When Knuckles accidentally stumbled upon the village, he was given a less than warm welcome by the residents. The pub's [[landlord]] ordered them to take Knuckles' trunk to his best room, something they reluctantly agreed to. Later that night, the pair took part in kidnapping a young [[sheep]] as bait for Knuckles. The pig held a boulder that the lamb was restrained to but was knocked aside when Knuckles glided in to rescue her. However, they soon caught to Knuckles (thanks to the traitorous lamb), with both of them lighting the cage that would burn the [[echidna]] alive. Knuckles took the initiative and rolled the burning cell towards the river, with the pig yelling at the others to "look out". He then warned them to watch out for Knuckles' free hands.

Seth and Maurice were eventually freed from the spell when Knuckles took Mesmer's staff for himself. The pig was horrified that he was about to sacrifice somebody but was reassured by Knuckles.

Amy and [[Tekno the Canary]] were hiking in the Rocky Valley Zone when they discovered a crash alien [[spaceship]]. However, on closer inspection, they learnt that the "aliens" were actually local residents [[Sid and Tone]], who had found an ancient chest of treasure in a cave. To avoid being killed, Amy pretended that the [[gold]] was actually "[[Geek's Gold]]" left behind as a prop from the film. Sid and Tone bought the lie and attacked each other, causing a cave-in to completely bury the gold. Believing it to be fake, the two crooks left without any hesitation. In reality, the gold was real and Amy asked Tekno to excavate it with a [[Boring Machine]].

Jake and his mother were amongst the many people evacuated to the [[Mushroom Hill Zone]] following the destruction of the [[Death Egg]]. [[Knuckles the Echidna]] did a thorough job of clearing the [[Floating Island]] of [[Badnik]]s, but was wrong-footed when an [[EggRobo]] appeared in Mushroom Hill and seemed to kidnap Jake from his bed. Jake's horrified mother discovered that Jake was no longer in his bed and learned from the congregation outside that the Badnik had kidnapped him.

Later, Jake's mother was relieved to find that Jake has been hiding in his cupboard all along. Knuckles was unaware of this and was about to tell her that Jake had died whilst inside the EggRobo. Fortunately, Jake made an appearance before Jake's mother could be informed.

[[Vector the Crocodile]] had been working on a secret experiment in the [[Chaotix Crew]] base when the machine exploded and, thanks to the [[Crimson Cobra]]'s meddling, Vector turned into a monster. Following a brief scuffle with [[Mighty the Armadillo]] and [[Espio the Chameleon]], the giant Vector decided to climb up the side of the Federation Building. Army [[helicopter]]s soon swooped in on him but were initially unable to get close, with Vector swiping at the vehicles. They later decided to trap him in a [[net]], using four helicopters to surround and capture him. Vector was then carried away, leaving the Federation Building badly damaged on one side.

It allows the planet's comedians to perform routines in order for an assembled audience to laugh and enjoy themselves. This particular comedy club is a sophisticated one, with a large stage and imposing curtains. Customers are seated at tables and many of the males wear suits.

[[Willie Waddle]] is one of the club's most successful comedians and holds a regular spot there. Standing in front of a large sign sporting his name, the [[penguin]] is known for his jokes that poke fun at [[Doctor Ivo Robotnik]]. Sonic was confident, having "beaten fifty foot robots" and [[Spin Attack]]ed the "balloon". The Guardian exploded, covering Sonic in an adhesive compound that stuck him to the ground. Sonic remained defiant, claiming that it would "take more than bubble gum" to trap him, but he was knocked out by the Zone itself before he could escape.

==History==

The original Barfmobile was an ancient, rusting machine that barely worked. Although it was a golden yellow, the vehicle had not been cleaned in some time and appeared to be in disrepair. It also fit in well with [[Doctor Ivo Robotnik]]'s regime, as it was an intense polluter, spluttering into life before pumping exhaust fumes into [[Mobius]]' atmosphere. Cam and Bert used this machine on every occasion, having chairs in their base that fed them directly into the Barfmobile. On one instance, they used the Barfmobile to track down a pair of [[Nicenik]]s ([[Bim and Bom]], two [[Moto Bug]]s that had been subjected to a virus. Cam piloted the vessel whilst Bert prepared the [[Triple-S]].

A year later, B.A.R.F. returned with sleek new uniforms and the Barfmobile underwent a similar transformation. The colour scheme was now primarily yellow and blue and resembled a torpedo with wings. Importantly, the Barfmobile seemed to spew much less pollution than before, although landing and take-off still made a mess. A key new feature of this Barfmobile was the ability to attach itself to the [[Ark Pod]], a transport vehicle that dwarfed its pilot machine. When the Barfmobile and Ark Pod were attached, Cam and Bert would operate the combined transport from the Barfmobile but it would be the Ark Pod's thrusters that were used. From here, B.A.R.F. oversaw the migration of the [[Palmtree Panic Zone]] [[Badnik]]s to the [[Green Hill Zone]] and vice-versa, although much of the action and the construction of [[The Seven Badniks]] was done in the spacious Ark Pod.

Along with the rest of the Spirits of the Years Past, 1977 was forced to run for cover when [[1930]] inadvertantly summoned the [[Time Waster]]. He arrived just in time to interrupt a conversation between [[Amy Rose]], [[Tekno the Canary]] and [[1950]], saving them from the Time Waster's attack. 1977 then interpreted [[1868]]'s long-winded explanation, guessing that damage to the timeline had created the monster. He then went on to suggest that 1930 was planning on replacing [[1999]] as the [[Time Stream]]'s next entrant.

Following 1930's change of heart, 1977 accompanied Tekno and some other ghosts to congratulate Amy for her words of wisdom. He was then the first to begin the [[New Year's Eve]] party.

==History==

Several protests have broken out in [[Sonic the Comic]] over the years, many of them directed at tyrannical leader [[Doctor Ivo Robotnik]] and all of these in the [[Metropolis Zone]]. The first was a show of strength against Robotnik and his new statue in [[Sector Alpha 34]]. One Mobian was able to climb onto "Robotnik's" moustache and was aiming to paint something when the [[Special Badnik Service]] arrived. [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] and [[Tails]] defeated the powerful [[Badnik]]s whilst the protestors used a [[bomb]] to destroy the statue.

After Robotnik became more ruthless, protests quickly vanished. However, a rally in [[Metropolis Park]] was attended by [[Ebony]] and [[Pyjamas]] when news broke about a plan to demolish the [[Elder Tree]] and his family. [[Knuckles the Echidna]] arrived in time to destroy the assembled [[Trooper]]s but soon found himself caught in battle with [[Omen]] and his [[Armourillas]]. With help and compassion from the furious trees, the protestors were allowed to leave and the entire area was fenced off.

Towards the end of Robotnik's despotic rule, the [[Freedom Fighters]] were captured during a routine mission in the Metropolis Zone. The gathered citizens remembered how many times their heroes had saved them and decided to fight back. A massive protest was later held outside of [[Citadel Robotnik]], with [[Cat Adie]] of [[Zone At Ten]] covering the story. The protest was dispersed when riot Troopers arrived and even more Badniks arrived as reinforcements.

===Post-RBR===

Now that Robotnik was no longer the leader after [[The Final Victory]], the Mobians found no reason to protest. One [[New Year's Eve]], [[Mobius]] came under attack from [[Colonel Granite]] and his invading army. In the confusion, Sonic found himself on [[Planet Earth]], namely [[London]] at New Year. The [[hedgehog]] was baffled by the pollution on the planet, but his opinion was shared by a group of protesters. After they realised he was not in fancy dress and was a real alien, they took him to Downing Street and waited as he spoke to the [[Prime Minister]].

===Sonic the Comic Online===

Many years after Robotnik's defeat, certain factions of Mobius began to grow restless. The [[Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe]] had been campaigning and plotting for their master's return for years, without any success. With many evil plots failing and their leader, [[Grand Chief Whip]], arrested, the "tribe" turned to non-violent acts. At [[Christmas]] 2007, D.R.A.T. elected to hold a peaceful rally that supposedly went without any hitches. Sonic was eager to beat up the protesters, but Tails informed him that it was a peaceful rally and [[Police Chief Bodger]] only wanted the [[fox]] to watch over proceedings.

A [[Sonic the Hedgehog's fall from grace|vicious smear campaign]] against Sonic by the [[Kane Broadcasting Company]] earned the ire of many citizens, particularly [[Norris Wimple]]. Angry that his hero had been mocked on [[The Harold Hilltop Show]], the geek formed Mobians Against Sonic Hatred ([[M.A.S.H.]]) and stormed the KBC studio. [[Harold Hilltop]] was rescued by Sonic, causing his own fans to go against him.

Following Robotnik's return and launch of the [[New Robotnik Empire]], a new wave of terror spread across Mobius. Scared of the villain's new power, a group of protesters suggested starting peace talks with Robotnik. In reponse, the paramilitary group [[S.P.E.A.R.]] dispersed the peaceful citizens with [[tear gas]].

After exposing Sun as a fraud, Robotnik fled through the curtain and hopped into his [[Egg-o-Matic]]. Sonic followed and learned the truth about the doorway before destroying the [[Badnik]] processor with Robotnik's own craft.

Tyrant was hosting an edition of Win A Million in the middle of New Tek when his current contestant, a young woman, was preparing to complete the final round. Should her dart have hit the bullseye of the giant dartboard, she would have won [[money|"the million"]]. Tyrant urged her to take her time, but this delay saw her dart-throwing replaced by a flying [[Espio the Chameleon]]. A confused Tyrant consulted the show's producers, but they confirmed there was nothing in the rules about using "armadillos" (actually supposed to be [[chameleon]]s) and the girl won the jackpot. Tyrant sighed, knowing full well that the million was coming out of his wages. However, this proved to only be a minor problem, as this was only a few days pay for him.

The festival, occurring on the 31st October every year, is marked by "trick or treating" (children in scary costumes calling from door to door for sweets), making jack-o-lanterns out of pumpkins and [[ghost]] stories that are extended to tales of [[vampire]]s, [[goblin]]s, [[skeleton]]s and zombies.

Although it has featured in [[Sonic the Comic]], the festivities of [[Hallowe'en]] are rarely seen on Mobius. On the other extreme, there are [[Zone]]s such as the [[Haunted Zone]] that are completely dedicated to the day. Certain issues on some years are "Hallowe'en specials", although the actual content surrounding the theme varies from year to year:

* [[Issue 12]] was the first Hallowe'en special, with a [[Decap Attack]] themed front cover. Apart from a teaser in [[Issue 11]] that made out that all the issue's stories would be "scary", this was the only Hallowe'en aspect.

* After skipping 1994, [[Issue 64]] celebrated Hallowe'en with a [[free gift]] of a [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] mask, intended as a mask to use for trick and treating, despite it not being remotely scary. [[Megadroid]] got in the spirit by wearing a wizard's hat, the background was a mystical purple colour, there was a Hallowe'en [[competition]] and a special [[Graphic Zone]] showing Sonic and friends as vampires and [[witch]]es.

* [[Issue 89]] also made some effort, the front cover showing Sonic riding a broomstick over a graveyard, accompanied by a free gift of a ''Goosebumps'' album and stickers. Another Hallowe'en Graphic Zone appeared and the crew of Decap Attack were left to deal with a [[pumpelkins|pumpkin]] infestation. [[Speedlines]] joined in with some more themed pictures.

In his only appearance, the head of the [[Zone]] spent part of [[Hallowe'en]] 1998 telling [[Tails]] about the [[Skeleton Crew]] and how they rose every fifty years to unleash chaos. The pensioner remembered hushed whispers of their last visit and wasn't surprised when the [[ghost]]s turned up in the most unexpected places. Tails was able to thwart their antics by taking them across the planet where midnight had already happened. This large insectoid [[Badnik]] was created by [[Grimer]] while he was operating out of [[Metropolis City High Security Prison|Metropolis High Security Prison]]. During the two-part [[Sonic]] story [[Secret Enemy]], Grimer successfully hacked into the [[Kintobor Computer]] and brought it under his control. Kintobor's corrupted program possessed this advanced Badnik robot and attacked Sonic on the streets of the [[Metropolis Zone]].

The Kintobor Badnik is insectoid in appearance. Its body looks very similar to [[Dr Robotnik|Dr. Robotnik's]] [[Buzzor]] and [[Buzz Bomber]] robots, although larger and has two arms with which to fight. There is a screen on its head which displays [[Doctor Kintobor|Kintobor's]] face.

Since the robot was being controlled by Kintobor (which was being controlled by Grimer), it could anticipate and counter any and all of Sonic's attacks. Its armour proved to be most resilient as well as it survived having a building falling on it. Sonic eventually realised how to defeat the Badnik - by returning to the [[Control Centre]] in the [[Emerald Hill Zone]] and shutting Kintobor down. With Kintobor deactivated, the robot stopped functioning and was later destroyed. Although Sonic stopped Kintobor, Grimer's plan to plant surveillance software into Kintobor's mainframe was successful, meaning he could monitor Sonic's every move.

Compared to some other regions of the city like [[Metropolis East Leisure Centre|Metropolis East]] that are visibly run-down and in need of serious maintenance, the North East is a relatively clean area that filled with middle-class citizens enjoying their freedom from [[Doctor Robotnik]]. Shops like [[Winnie's World]] and [[P.C. Planet]] bring together two extremes of business in the [[Zone]]. There are also plenty of green areas for residents like [[Tony]] to enjoy baseball and other sports. Despite the majority of the sector being affluent, at least one massive skyscraper was due to be demolished, perhaps a final reminded of Robotnik's reign.

As a prisoner in [[Metropolis City High Security Prison]], [[Grimer]] managed to hack into the [[Kintobor Computer]] and tricked him into thinking a [[Badnik]] army had stormed the sector. [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] arrived to find no disruption, but he soon had to contend with the [[Kintobor Badnik]], his friendly advisor turned traitor. When even bringing the aforementioned dilapidated building down on top of it didn't work, Sonic took the battle back to the [[Emerald Hill Zone]].

During a fight between [[Sonic the Hedgehog]] and the [[Kintobor Badnik]], the [[Kintobor Computer]] was somehow able to hack into every computer in P.C. Planet's window display and show his snarling face on the monitors. He was also able to transmit his voice to Sonic outside the shop, despite the window and the lack of any visible speakers.
